MAC Lipstick in Pink Nouveau Review

MAC Lipstick in Pink Nouveau Review
MAC Lipstick in Pink Nouveau Review

So continuing my MAC Pink Series, next up we have Pink Nouveau. Another one of my all time favs. This is a subtle pretty pink that looks great with blue eyes and can easily be worn during the day. Un-like Please Me, there is slightly more pink pigment and a shine with this shade it is more noticeable but without being Barbie-like.

I think this is a super cute shade and one I wear a lot, it lifts the tone of my skin and balances out any blue I may have.

MAC Lipstick in Please Me Review

MAC Lipstick in Please Me Review

MAC Lipstick in Please Me Review

MAC Lipstick in Please Me Review
This is one of my favourite MAC pink lipsticks as I am having a bit of a love affair with matte lips at the moment. This MAC lipstick is Please Me, a beautiful petal pink matte shade that doesn't dry out the lips and adds a pretty flush of natural colour. Your lips but better I like to think.

I also find with the matte MAC lipsticks they last a lot longer than the more moisturising ones as you don't need to re-apply quite so much.

MAC Lipstick in Candy Yum-Yum Review

First in my MAC Pink Lipstick Series is Candy Yum-Yum. This is a brave shade to pull off and one that isn't for the faint hearted, the photo above is the colour with no editing and using natural light only. As you can see it is highly pigmented with a slight sheen and is a shock of neon pink.

I love this for a big night out and team it with a subtle smokey eye so ultimate drama. It's certainly attention grabbing!!

What do you think?

Next up on my MAC Pink Series is Please Me

The Ultimate Drugstore Lip Liner | Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner Review

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob & Obsession

After Christmas I swore I wouldn't buy another beauty product until I had used all of the ones I own, three draws worth. But on a recent trip to Boots I really couldn't stop myself and left £30 lighter and my draws a little fuller.

I haven't really every got what lip liner's were for and for a while I just didn't use them. I stumbled upon the idea of lip contouring and because obsessed with learning how to achieve a fuller, plumper pout. The mission was to hunt down some good products, but ever the scrimper I was sure I could find some drugstore dupes for the premium hero's. Two such items are the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner.

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob & Obsession

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob & Obsession

What I say: The colours are intense, richly pigmented with a waxy formulation. This texture I find is the best at being long lasting and it grabs hold of what ever lipstick you put on top. The look is very matte and almost has a lipstick quality to it that some pencils really lack. The colours I have are Obsession and East End Snob.

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Obsession is a dark burgundy red which is the ultimate accessory for a red lip. I outline my lips and blend into my lipstick as it give the illusion of a shadow, meaning my lips look fuller.

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob is a go to pinky nude. It looks pretty on its own applied all over the lips or to define the outline and perfect my lipstick line.

The nib is small and angled to give a precise application and a smooth edge. I don't have a particularly steady hand so this really helps because the colour is buildable and I can be really careful about where I add the colour. Another thing I love is that this isn't a pencil, so no sharpening! The product twists up ensuring you can use it where ever you are without the mess of the shavings.

Have you tried these lip liners? Want to hear more about lipstick contouring?

Banishing Chapped Lips with Blistex

Healing Chapped Lips - Blistex

I have been battling with dry lips for a couple of weeks now. With the constantly shifting weather my skin really doesn't know what's going on, dry to oily in the matter of hours. Such a pain!! I think I may have found the answer to all my wowes.

Healing Chapped Lips - BlistexThe Blistex Intensive Moisturiser* has been my day to day go to lip product. The tip is angled so that it hugs the lips giving maximum coverage. The cream itself isn't too thick or gloopy like some lip balms, it almost has a watery consistency. It contains Shea Butter that you can really feel working some voodoo magic. It gives a weird tingling sensation that soothed my red, sore lips and provided an almost instant relief.  Pure heaven! The Blistex Intensive Moisturiser also has a handy SPF10, perfect for protecting your puckka on skiing holidays!

We have all been there. You have a sonking cold you can't shift and you're having to breath through your mouth constantly because your nose feels like you have cotton wool stuffed up there. Resulting on your lips being dryer than a desert and you are desperate for people not to make you laugh for fear of them splitting. I will be reaching for the Blistex Relief Cream* on such occasions. This product is medicated and smells really minty. When I first opened the tube it squirted all over the place, so watch out for that! But I really like the texture of the lip balm, It may not be suitable for every day but I love that I have something to use in times of emergency. I am starting another course of Roacutane, which will intensely dry my lips out so the Blistex Relief Cream will be a god send!

Plus both products are under £3.00!!! Bargain!

Are there any lip balms you recommend for dry lips?

Pixi Picks Is Up To New Tricks! TOM FORD GIVEAWAY

People call me the problem child; I’m either moaning about my flat hair, lumpy stomach or spotty skin or spending a small fortune on products that promise to change my world and make me look like Kendal Jenner. When I started my blog I didn’t really know what I was doing or what to expect. It was just a place for me to occasionally rant or rave about some products I had been trying. I have learnt so much from the world of blogging, met some inspirational people and gained more confidence than I thought possible.

At the beginning I didn't want my face out there for the world to comment on. But as my confidence has grown taking a 'selfie' with friends, beauty products and the occasional animal has shaped me for the better. Thank you for all the lovely comments you leave on my posts they really mean the world!

After a couple of years of not giving my little project the love it deserves I have given it a little overhaul with the help of Baggle Design. So my lovely, wonderful people out there! Pixi Picks has a new look, isn’t it swish?!

To celebrate I have decided to do a little give away. Fancy adding a little bit of Tom Ford worth £40 to your make up bag?

Well here is your chance!

Tom Ford Indian Rose is my go to nude lipstick. There is just something super lux about adding a swipe of a Tom F over your lips; it just finishes an outfit perfectly. It is also the ideal companion for a smokey eye! The packaging is beautiful with an art deco feel to it, would you expect anything else from Mr Ford? Being my favourite shade, I wanted to share it with one lucky winner.

All you have to do is make sure you are following me on Bloglovin and my social channels (I am lonely!) and Tweet about the giveaway! Simples…..! Oh also, it is open internationally for the readers across the pond -YAY!

What's On My Desk | The Beauty Edit

When I am sat at my desk all day I often find it helpful to have a few precious products to hand. Air conditioning and central heating can play havoc with your skin throughout the day. So I thought I would share my essentials with you!
  1. Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray – This has been a saviour recently and I have got a few of my friends hooked on the stuff. When my skin is feeling dry and tight I spray the fine mist over my face. I find that it instantly soothes and refreshes my skin and it can be used over makeup too!
  2. Jurlique Enriching Body Cream – I like to keep the skin on my arms as moisturised as possible. This body cream from Jurlique is ultra-nourishing but unscented which is great for not stinking out the office or drawing attention to my habit!
  3. Clinique Superbalm Lip Treatment – I have been on some medication that has made my lips really dry. Superbalm is really thick and really helps repair chapped lips quickly. I find that other products dry them out even more.
  4. Melvita Argan Oil – A tiny tube of precious Argan oil, great for the cuticles or dry ends of the hair. It is great for taming flyaways if you are heading out for after work drinks.
  5. Clinique Deep Comfort Hand & Cuticle Cream – I am a huge fan of hand cream, applying it constantly during the day. Paranoia that I will get wrinkly hands I think. Again, I like the unscented aspect of this hand cream and it absorbs quickly without leaving a nasty tacky feeling.
  6. Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede Cologne – I am in love with this fragrance. I have written a review here. It is handy having some perfume on your desk, a quick spritz before a meeting or a lunch.

MAC it mine!! MAC Lipstick Haul

I suffer from a hereditary issue that has affected almost every woman in my blood line, not as dramatic as it sounds but we suffer from having no top lip. *GASP* This means that I often attempt a duck pout to give the illusion my lips are se-metrical, however for those of you who are Facebook friends you will realise this is something I now constantly do, for this I am sorry. I am currently having a go a drawing in a top lip, it's so much harder than it sounds. But even though I suffer, I am a lipstick addict. Splurging stupid money to feed my habit.

So, I was given the most amazing MAC lipstick, I loved it so much that after two wears I lost it on a girls night out and can't for the life of me remember the name. I am truly gutted! But armed with a photo of me wearing the shade I was hoping that one of the MAC artists would be able to help.

Unfortunately, even with this photo I wasn't able to find my beloved shade. So I settled for the closest the MAC artist suggested, which is still really stunning! In fact I went lipstick mad and left with another beautiful nude shade.

These photos really do not portray the true colours of the lipsticks but I have tried my best!

My replacement lipstick is an Amplified Creme Lipstick in Girl About Town. A lovely fuchsia
pink with a blue undertone. This lipstick leaves a lovely sheen to your lips and gives a lasting colour. I would recommend using a lip liner for a crisp edge, I use Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in Crushed Berry.

The second lipstick I picked up is Satin Lipstick in Pink Nouveau. A subtle, dusky pink. This is a lot more matte than Girl About Town, but it still has a little shine and is really beautiful.

Pocket Lipcare

How blooming cute are these lip balms?! These little cubes are the brain child of lipcare brand Balmi, which I haven't heard of. They come in small plastic tubs, perfect for your handbag and have a unique conical balm. It contains a natural blend of shea butter and jojoba oil, leaving lips moisturised, soft and smooth with SPF 15, so great if you are off skiing.

Balmi Lip Balm in Strawberry (image: Diarydirectory.com)

Balmi is available in four flavours: strawberry, coconut, raspberry and mint, priced at £4.99 each. I don't think they are available yet, but stockists will include Boots, Boots.com, Tesco, Snow & Rock and Mountain Warehouse stores, or you can get them HERE.

Call Me Coral: Chanel Rouge Allure

With Spring teasing us with a glimpse of sunshine through chilly winds, I thought it was time to bring out a suitable lipstick to cheer me up.

Chanel have a varied range of lip colour's to fit your mood or accentuate an outfit. Team it with subtle eye makeup for daytime glam. Going to a makeup counter in your local store can often be overwhelming with so much on offer and such a hefty price tag, a Chanel is not to be taken on lightly.

Rouge Allure in La Favourite
Rouge Allure Velvet in La Favourite is a gorgeous coral colour with a matte like finish. It has a lovely creamy texture that doesn't sink in to lip lines, but does have to be reapplied throughout the day.

Chanel Rouge Allure

If you are looking to treat yourself and a Chanel purse is a long way off, then a Chanel lipstick is the next best thing.

You can buy them at a cosmetic counter in House of Frazer for a hefty £25.00.

Stay beautiful,

Xoxo

Chubby is sooo in right now...Clinique Chubby Stick Review

I very rarely wear lipstick during the day, mainly because I am lazy and can't be bothered to top it up. But with the lovely sunshine we have been having my lips are quite dry. If you follow the beauty news you will have heard of the new Clinique Chubby Sticks. These are basically posh lip balms with a selection of really gorgeous colours - I do love a good lip balm.

With 16 different shades in the collection I have three to show you. From left to right - Chunky Cherry, Woppin' Watermelon and Super Strawberry.

Clinique Chubby Stick Review

The balms come with a crayon like tip for bold application  and although the colour is rather sheer it can be built upon. I love how easy these are to apply, no messy blotting that you do with lipsticks. The moisturising aspect is fab as well. Clinique has really developed the ultimate lip balm that is almost like a handbag accessory.

I am slightly obssesed with Wopping Watermelon at the moment and my lips are kissably soft ;). At £16 quid a pop the Chubby Stick's aren't cheap, but I do honestly think they are worth the money. Have you tried them?

You can buy them here - Clinique

Stay beautiful,

Pixie xoxo
