Wild About Beauty Line & Define Liner Pen Review

Today I am talking eye liner and there seems to be a lot of mystery about creating a famous flick. I am not so skilled in this department, having repeatedly over drawn using Bobbi Brown Gel and stabbing myself in the eye while I tight line, it just seemed it wasn't for me. I am not sure how I even came to own this product, it just appeared in the huge black hole of my make up draws. But holly grail of all black liners, my goodness is it bloody good!

What is this magic product I hear you ask?!  The Wild About Beauty Line & Define Liner Pen!!!!

When I did a little research into the brand for this post I was surprised to see it was co created by Louise Redknap, or my idol from the 80s 'wrap your arms around the world ey ey ey' song - you 80s kids will know what I'm talking about! The brand is all about harnessing the power of nature to create skin loving, high performing products. 

The Wild About Beauty Line & Define Liner Pen is enriched with Camomile Water to sooth and protect the delicate eye area; great for my sensitive eyes! The tip is long and sturdy to give a precise line that gives a true black finish. I also like that the ink is not matte, so it leaves a high fashion gloss that I love. The liner easily applies over cream and powder eyeshadow without losing intensity and it has made flick creating so much easier. It almost acts like a stain that lasts all day and is easily removed with a makeup wipe or cleanser and that is a huge plus for me.

So here is how I use it:

1. Starting at the inside corner of the eye lightly draw along the lash line towards the outside edge.

2. I like to then look straight in a mirror and where the end of my eyebrow is. I pull the skin upwards and draw a line from the desired point back towards the eyelid.

3. Even out the connecting lines and alter the thickness of the lines, graphic or natural - you decide!

4 Voila! A quick method without having to keep dipping into a pot, the gel drying out or having to wash brushes.

Compared to drugstore eye liners perhaps it is a little pricey. But I have been using it for the last few months every day with no sign of it drying out and I feel it is worth the price.

Eyeko Black Magic Mascara Review

I seem to be on this never ending hunt for the perfect mascara. I just cant find one that doesn't smudge onto my brow bone or leave dark rings beneath my eyes. I had a sample of the Eyeko Black Magic Mascara and after my much loved Clinique Lash Power Feathering Mascara dried up I thought I would give it a whirl. 

What they say: Designed for after hours seduction, the ultimate mascara combines three key elements to create drama, volume and curl. Conditioning formula blends key ingredients Keratin and Shea Butter for instantly transformed lashes and superior staying power that's easy to remove. 

What I say: Now I love love the packaging, it is different and I like different.  The Eyeko Black Magic Mascara wand has a curved brush to help shape and curl the lashes. I was happy to find out that the brush evenly distribute the mascara onto each lash and there was no clumping at all. My lashes looked very natural, but not very long. Another plus was that the colour is a deep black, so there is more of an impact for blue or green eyes. 

On the first day I tried it I really didn't like it. It was wet and really hard to build up, even with a few coats I couldn't get them to curl very well. Through out the day I had been wearing it and it was all fine, I couldn't see too much smudging which I was quite pleased about. Then I went and met friends. The first thing one of them said "Charley you have black marks under your eye brows", I was not a happy bunny! I rubbed them off and carried on my evening but I was really paranoid.

On the second day the formula seemed to have dried out a little bit and I found that I was getting a lot more coverage than the previous day. I started to come round to it and thought it was worth seeing through and I am so pleased that I did because I am hooked on the stuff. It is like black gold that adds flutter and definition to my otherwise invisible lashes! All hail Eyeko!

From Hungers Games to Dior

Can we just stop for a second and appreciate the beauty of this woman!! Okay so she, herself has admitted these photos are heavily Photoshopped, but still!

Take a leaf out of Cleo's book and be the queen of seduction!

Today's post was requested by a special friend of mine who is still searching for her Mr Right. Maybe this festive holiday will bring the gift she deserves. So in saying that this is her guide for the perfect date make up with a few chosen ingredients.

First we must consider the environment of said date. If it is a flirtatious lunch or in fact any situation that involves day light then it is best not to go too vampy. The come to bed, smokey eye is not a look to rock and you may end up looking like a cheap hooker searching for her next punter. So my advice is to go flirty and girly.

So once you have created your base face with a trusted foundation, try adding a thin line of black liner to your top lid, perhaps add a cat flick to the ends if you are feeling cheeky. I like to add a bit of liner to the top inside lid as this helps to give the illusion of full lashes. The best liner I have tested is Bobbi Brown's Long Wear Gel Liner (£16.50, House of Fraser) which comes in a little pot and lasts all day. I'm also a massive fan of fake eyelashes, you can't really go wrong with them. For a subtle day time look I recommend Girls With Attitude, Double Take False Lashes (£5.00, Girls With Attitude Online). These are fuller than the usual false eyelash but they look amazingly natural. I even used Emma Lashes for my graduation :). The easiest way to apply them is using tweezers and looking down in a mirror. Finish the look off with some statement lips, this will draw his eyes to them and hopefully he will want to kiss them ;). I like Topshop's Brighton Rock for its girly, soft pinks (£8.00, Topshop Online/Instore).

If you are going on a night date where there will be loads of other girls then a different approach is needed. You want to make sure his eyes are firmly glued to you and that they do not wander off. Take a leaf out of Cleopatera's papyrus book little black book of makeup. Charcoal may not be the tool of choice today but she knew a thing or two about the drama of the smoky eye. Again, not me suggesting you ladies buy some coal and rub it on your face. Instead opt for a soft eye crayon. The Topshop Eye Crayon in Equinox, which I recommended in a previous review is great for this look.  This allows you to blend into the sockets using a brush or your trusty finger. This gives a softer, sexier look and it makes your eyes smoulder. Perfect for the woman of mystery look. Don't panic if you're not a make up maestro. Most of us aren't but these little recommendations are what I personally use and if a fat fingered girl like me can do it so can you. Start buy drawing a thick line above your lashes from the inside corner to the outside. Next in the outside corner draw a small < sign following the contor of your socket bone. Once you are satisfied you look pretty stupid, buff the liner across the rest of your lid with the brush or finger. This should give the illusion of wider eyes because the inside corners should be lighter than the outside. Apply some thicker, but natural lashes to finish the look. Girls With Attitude- Glamour To Go Party Animal Lashes 002 are perfect (£5.00, Girls With Attitude Online) .  If you want to get Ito the festive season then dust Barry M Fine Glitter Dust in Black Gold (£4.59, Boots) over the eye for added sparkle. It's best to keep lip colour subtle so that your eyes are the focus point on the face.

Crayons...for grown ups!

I first stumbled upon TopShop's makeup range last summer. I had just moved to London fresh from university and I had bagged an internship at Look Magazine. Naturally, I expected everyone at Look towers to be polished, poised and perfect. A daunting prospect for little old me. So I headed to the shinny corner of TS Oxford Street ready to give my make up bag an overhaul and found the perfect eye accessory. The TopShop eye crayons.

This year these crayons come in two very different colours Equinox and Zephyr. I have splashed out on both for testing purposes obviously ;) They are £8.50 from TopShop

These are my new favourite eye shadows. They are perfect for block colour on your lids or they blend equally well for a smokey look.

Zephyr

This colour is something special. It glides on so smoothly and shines in all the right places. I use it for both the day and the night because it is so versatile and can be built up to suit your need.

Equinox

Again a super colour :)

The only downside is that they do crease after a while and need to be topped up to keep it perky.

All in all they are F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C. and totally brilliant for the on coming party season to add a bit of sparkle. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!
